Social Responsibility

In its brief history, the Pittsburgh Social Exchange has forged strong relationships with various local charities and used its extensive network to benefit great causes. This has allowed the Pittsburgh Social Exchange to raise awareness, as well as thousands of dollars for organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh and Team River Runner.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh

For more than 46 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh (BBBS) has been recognized as the premier mentoring organization in the region. Since 1965, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh has matched more than 19,000 children with responsible, caring adult mentors. Preventative in nature, Big Brothers Big Sisters unites the agency staff, volunteer mentors, and parents/guardians who work together to deter the occurrence of problematic behaviors in children before they are able to take root. Through role modeling, guidance and friendship, BBBS volunteers fill a void for children who are critically in need of stable and supportive bonds with caring adults.

Team River Runner

Team River Runner (TRR), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, gives active duty service members and veterans an opportunity to find health, healing, and new challenges through whitewater boating and other paddling sports. The benefits of TRR have as much to do with creating a social network and support system as they do with learning water sports skills that provide an exciting adventure lifestyle that suddenly seemed lost due to injury. The program also encourages family members to participate whenever possible.
